Meet fibre optic standards with new TREND Networks Video Inspection Probe
At TREND Networks, we are dedicated to providing dependable solutions that help cable installation and network testing professionals to perform their jobs more efficiently to a high standard. That’s why we have introduced our new fiber optic Video Inspection Probe for LanTEK IV, LanTEK IV-S and FiberTEK IV users.
Supported by version 4.1 software for LanTEK IV and IV-S, the new digital inspection probe provides high-quality images of fibre optic end faces to ensure they meet the 2023 IEC 61300-3-35 ED.2 standard, which is a requirement for every fiber optic connector prior to testing and deployment. The new microscope and software combine to provide an inspection and troubleshooting solution that is easier and more efficient than ever before.
How to use a fibre optic video inspection probe
The 4.1 software uses advanced machine vision to provide near-instantaneous evaluation of the connector end face, meaning it does more of the work for you. There is no longer any need to “wing it” when it comes to inspections. The new microscope and software make it easy to ensure that every connection is properly inspected, reducing the risk of test failures and network connectivity issues.
To inspect the fibre optic end face, simply choose the multimode or single-mode test standard and use the Auto-capture function to capture and analyse the image as soon as it is in focus.
Why do I need a fibre optic video inspection probe?
Dirty connections are the number one cause of test failures and network connectivity issues. With our new microscope and software, technicians can easily identify scratches, contaminants, and other defects that can lead high signal loss and reflection which leads to dropped links and high transmission error rates .
The Auto Analyze function tracks the fibre core and enables the image to be captured as soon as it is in focus where the software automatically identifies any defects. The results can then be saved to the certifier’s internal memory and exported to a USB drive if required. These images may prove useful attachments to test reports generated in the TREND AnyWARE Cloud test management software.
Our new microscope and software are designed to make fiber optic inspections faster, easier, and more accurate than ever before. With our advanced machine vision technology, technicians can be confident that they are properly inspecting every connection, reducing the risk of test failures and network connectivity issues.
The microscope is available with a full range of adapter tips for 1.25mm and 2.5mm ferrule connectors in both UPC (Ultra Physical Contact) and APC (Angled Physical Contact) options.
The above screen captures show a multimode connector before cleaning that fails the inspection test with the contaminants on the core and cladding area of the connector highlighted in red. The large pieces of debris are not highlighted in red because they are outside of the contact zone of the connector face. That green and yellow rings represent the area of the connector is included in the IEC 61300-3-35 ED.2 specification. After cleaning, the connector passes the test with no contaminants on the connector face. The software evaluates the connector and provides a result in less than 2 seconds.
