TEKSGiving: A Weekend of Connection, Care, and Community 💜

This past weekend, over 40 dedicated volunteers from across North America spanning the West Coast, East Coast, and Canada came together for a powerful purpose. Armed with tools, tech, and heart, we joined forces to upgrade the network infrastructure across three locations of Sojourner House, a vital space providing safety and support for women affected by abuse.

Three Days of Teamwork and Dedication

For three dedicated days, volunteer installers became teammates. The effort and commitment shown was truly inspiring. Every piece of equipment was generously donated, every hour was volunteered, and every mile (some volunteers drove up to 17 hours!) was travelled with immense purpose.

This project was a clear demonstration that when it comes to helping others and making a tangible difference, it is always #CommunityOverCompetition.

Building a Safer, Smarter Space

The volunteers tackled a wide range of installation tasks to build a smarter, more secure environment for the residents. This massive undertaking included one main location and two sub-locations.

The critical security upgrades involved installing essential door access systems, placing new security cameras, and setting up network racks. We also deployed crucial Wi-Fi access points to ensure reliable connectivity throughout the facilities.

A particularly meaningful task involved running miles of signature pink cabling, which served as a powerful symbol of the mission to protect and empower women.

Verification with Trusted Tools

To ensure every cable and connection met professional standards we utilized our trusted TREND Networks tools throughout the project:

· The LanTEK IV-S was essential for final certification, ensuring the structured cabling links met industry performance requirements.

· The SignalTEK QT Pro was used to qualify the network, testing the network’s ability to support bandwidth-intensive applications.

· Our Tone & Probe kits helped volunteers quickly trace and identify cables during the complex installation process.

Together, We Build More Than Networks

What started as a weekend of installation turned into something far greater a powerful reminder that when people come together with purpose, they can make a lasting difference.

At TREND Networks, we believe in building connections that matter, not only through technology but through the communities we serve.

Special thanks to Tommy Jordan from Twisted Networx who gave a lot of his time to our team onsite, providing useful knowledge and valuable insight. The collaboration at TEKSGiving is always inspiring, and we’re happy to see it grow in size and impact every year. We’re honored to have played a small part alongside TEKnowlege Worldwide and all the volunteers in helping create a safer, more connected environment for the Sojourner House and the women who call it home.
