The Version 4.1 software also supports a new fibre optic video microscope accessory for inspection and troubleshooting.

“In current market conditions, we are finding that installers, technicians, and project managers are increasingly time poor,” explains Dan Barrera, Director of Product Innovation for TREND Networks. “LanTEK IV-S is already the fastest cloud-enabled certifier available, but the latest updates are designed to further enhance speed and save time, without compromising on accuracy.”

Once installed, the new version 4.1 operating software will enable all future software updates for LanTEK IV and LanTEK IV-S to be done automatically via Wi-Fi. On synching the cable certifier to the TREND AnyWARE Cloud, the user will get an onscreen notification that an update is available, and simply tap to install, similar to a mobile phone app update.

“We have found that 44% of LanTEK IV-S users are not using the latest operating software version, which means they are already missing out on speed improvements and the latest standards,” says Dan. “With ‘over-the-air’ updates, you will be able to update the software without even needing a PC, making it faster and more convenient, and ultimately helping technicians work at their best.”

The updated version 4.1 software has also been developed to support TREND Networks’ new fibre optic video microscope. This is a digital probe for use with LanTEK IV and LanTEK IV-S certifiers that provides high quality images of fibre optic end faces to aid efficient inspection and troubleshooting.

The TIA/ISO/EN/CENELEC cabling standards require all installed fibre optic connectors meet the IEC 61300-3-35 ED.2 standard for end-face quality and cleanliness. Version 4.1 software uses advanced machine vision to provide near instantaneous evaluation of the connector end face using a LanTEK certifier and the new microscope. This allows users to easily, quickly, and accurately verify that connectors meet the latest performance requirements and provide optimal performance.

“Dirty connections are the number one cause of test failures and network connectivity issues, especially because if you plug one dirty test cord in, it can then spread dirt onto clean connectors,” explains Dan. “Yet, in talking to real-world installers, we found that many were just ‘winging it’ when it came to these inspections, and often did not feel they have the tools, or the time, to check them.”

“Users depend on us to deliver simple, fast solutions, so we’ve leveraged the latest machine vision technology, similar to that found in manufacturing defect detection systems. Now, to certify a connector, all the technician needs to do is choose multimode or single mode and press a button. In a second, they’ll see the results on the large certifier screen,” he continues.

The new software can identify the fibre core and automatically track it on a screen before analysis. With the Auto Analyse function enabled, the image will be captured as soon as it is in focus, and automatically identify scratches, contaminants and other defects. Results can then be saved to the certifier’s internal memory and exported to a USB drive if required. These images may prove useful attachments to test reports generated in the TREND AnyWARE Cloud test management software.

To further support compliance and enable users to prove performance, the Version 4.1 software update also includes the recently ratified TIA-568.3-E fibre optic standard. Most copper test standards now include a +PoE variant in addition to the existing MAX variant to certify that a cable will support high power PoE applications by requiring the DC Resistance Unbalance (DCRU) measurement to pass.

“Testing for PoE compliance does not add any additional test time, as LanTEK IV and IV-S have always measured DCRU as part of the seven second autotest. The +PoE standards alert installers to problems that might go unnoticed until after the network is commissioned,” Dan adds.

New cable manufacturers have also been added to the cable database in the latest software version.

The free software update can be downloaded now at www.trend-networks.com.

The new fibre optic video microscope and LanTEK IV-S cable certifier are available now from TREND Networks distributors or direct from the online shop at www.trend-networks.com.

The software for TREND Networks’ LanTEK IV-S copper and fibre cable certifier has been updated …

[1461

post-126770","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-press-coverage-au
["GET
