Should you choose VDV II Pro or PoE Pro?

When it comes to installing or troubleshooting voice, data or video installations, which TREND Networks handheld tester should you choose to get the measurements that you need?

Why choose VDV II Pro?

VDV II Pro is an LCD cable verifier, so unlike a blink box or LED verifier, it can deliver far more than just wiremap test results. The display panel on an LCD verifier has intuitive graphics to provide comprehensive details on cabling faults, allowing for faster repair. To improve productivity, LCD verifiers can also offer support for multiple remotes so that a single installer can connect to numerous cables at once and test each one from the patch panel in seconds.

A multi-function cable verifier

With integrated RJ-11/RJ-12 (voice), RJ-45 (data) and coax F-Type (video) connectors, you only need one piece of equipment to quickly check the integrity of virtually any copper data cable found in a domestic or commercial voice, data or video installation, including telephone wiring, LAN data network cabling (Cat 5/5e/6/6a/7) and video/security alarm wiring.

The VDV II verifier can display information such as cable length, distance to opens or shorts, crossovers, split pairs, connection speed on live networks, analogue vs. digital phone service and PoE (Power over Ethernet) status. However, VDV II cannot measure the maximum power available to PoE devices.

Why choose PoE Pro?

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is used to power VoIP phones, smart lighting systems, CCTV, digital signage, Wi-Fi access points, intercoms, sensors and much more. As PoE continues to grow, you may find that you need fast, accurate PoE validation to eliminate guesswork and get the job done faster.

Innovative PoE verifier

PoE Pro is a multi-function PoE tester which measures and reports PoE Class, voltage/voltage drop, watts and injector type, making it easy to see how much power is available. Previously you would have needed to understand all the various standards, device power outputs and cable lengths to be sure a device will operate successfully. However, with PoE Pro, instant, easy to read test results are shown on the large backlit screen, up to a maximum of 90W, regardless of cable length, cable quality or other factors.

As well as being an effective PoE tester, PoE Pro also offers all the features of the VDV II Pro verifier so there is no need for two separate testers, helping you manage your costs.
