3 ‘Must-Read’ Network and Cable Testing White Papers from IDEAL Networks

All our IDEAL Networks products are designed to help busy cable installers and network technicians become more efficient and productive. However, to further support our users, we also provide a range of free downloadable network testing white papers giving extra insight into how our test and measurement tools work and how they can help you.

On our Education webpage you can find a range of helpful IDEAL Networks Application Notes and White Papers about the network testing topics you need to know about. Here are just three recent examples that are available to download now.

The Rise of Modular Plug Terminated Links (MPTLs)

While Modular Plug Terminated Links (MPTL) are becoming more commonplace in networks, testing MPTLs is still relatively new. Following the launch of our new MPTL software update, designed to help installers certify cabling with MPTL, this white paper explains the difference between MPTL and typical Permanent Link (PL) installations, the upcoming new standard update to the TIA-568 series and how the new software from IDEAL Networks supports MPTL testing. To test MPTLs, LanTEK III cable certifier users with Channel Adapters and PL adapter can simply download a free software update.

Five Frustrations and Challenges for Data Cable Installers

IDEAL Networks carried out extensive research, asking a wide range of data cable installers what problems they face in their job and found that challenges can often be overcome by combining the right mix of testers, choosing the best certifier care plan or switching to a Pay As You Test expenditure model. For any business that is paying too much for cable certifiers, facing downtime due to sharing testers between jobs, or experiencing problems with late and lost test data, this white paper outlines how Test4Less from IDEAL Networks can help to eliminate these problems, and more, for those installing and certifying data cable.

How to Apply Network Testing Practices to CCTV System Installations

The concept of testing and documenting CCTV installations to provide the same level of protection to CCTV integrators and installers, as to low voltage and fibre optic communications cabling, is relatively new. Until recently, the relevant test tools did not exist, which resulted in installers routinely being called back to troubleshoot problems that may have been caused by the customer’s network rather than the CCTV system. Therefore, there is clear benefit to applying well-established network testing and documentation practices when installing IP CCTV systems.

The white paper, which you can download now, explores some of the challenges presented by CCTV installation and testing – specifically IP CCTV – and advises what to test and the benefits of documented installation using the SecuriTEST IP CCTV tester.
